Kate Ripley

  • Licensed and Certified Massage Therapist
  • Certified Neuromuscular Massage Therapist
  • Nationally Certified Therapeutic Massage Therapist
  • Certified Orthopedic Massage Therapist

Kate is the Owner and Founder of The Austin Bodyworker. She has come to Austin, Texas via Massachusetts, where she had been in practice for approximately 4 years at a revolutionary massage clinic in downtown Boston. This was a clinical massage-only office, staffed by therapists serious about treating and educating the public about what massage can really do for them and help them be a part of their own rehabilitation. She was fortunate enough to work with some very gifted therapists and get in on the ground level of an exciting new niche in clinical massage therapy. She was also able to meet and work with dynamic clients who helped shape her practice.

Kate takes a medically-based approach to dealing with the various postural, gait and neuromuscular injuries and dysfunctions she has come across. She has been brought in on training programs to help eliminate and/or alleviate symptoms of over-training and poor-training habits. Over the years, the clients Kate has worked with has run the gamut—from professional, elite and amateur athletes and triathletes to weekend warriors and desk jockeys. She has also had extensive experience with RSI’s (repetitive stress injuries) and other common office injuries such as TOS (thoracic outlet syndrome) and carpal tunnel syndrome. She takes a lot of pride in the success she has had in teaching clients what they can do on their own on a daily basis to decrease or eliminate environmental factors that may also contribute to some of their pain. Pregnancy clients are also a source of joy for Kate, who enjoys being able to help take some of the discomfort, stress and pain away from a woman’s body in a state of constant change.

Kate believes that keeping the lines of communication open and relaxed is the best way to educate each client about the best way to help them live, work and perform at their full potential each day. She enjoys answering client questions and helping them become more involved in their quality of life.

Katrina Baker

  • Licensed Massage Therapist
  • Nationally Certified Therapeutic Massage Therapist

"Katrina brings a solid sense of professionalism to her work. She was a student at the Chicago School of Massage Therapy and distinguished herself by achieving Myofascial Certification shortly after her graduation. She brings a solid anatomical and structural understanding to her work and a skillful sense of palpation and clinical discernment. You will simply not find a more engaging, creative and successful bodywork practitioner. Katrina has assisted me in regional continuing educational programs. I chose her specifically for her strong verbal skills, professional sense of body mechanics and a devoted sense of commitment to the ideals and standards of this great profession. Katrina is a prefect example of the massage therapy success story. She will not only continue to enjoy professional success but will grow into a role model and mentor to others."

Robert King Founder and Past President,
Chicago School of Massage Therapy

Katrina is thrilled to join the Austin Bodyworker as a visiting Massage Therapist. Originally from Massachusetts, she met and worked with Kate in Boston for 3 years. They developed a close friendship, and Katrina jumped at the chance to spend some time in Austin!

She graduated from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy in 2001, and shortly thereafter completed a certification in Myofascial Release massage. She has also taken courses with the OMERI (Orthopedic Massage Education Institute) Institute. Katrina practices a combination of Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point and Body Movement Techniques. She tailors each session to fit the needs of every client. She is acutely aware of creating a healing space for each client and most importantly helping to teach awareness of the body. Katrina is honored to be a teaching assistant to Bob King, and most recently participated in the Myofascial Release course at the American Massage Therapy Conference.

She completed a 500 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training under the tutelage of Barbara Benagh in January of 2001. Although not currently teaching, Katrina blends her yoga training into her sessions, which she finds to be revolutionary in the art of therapeutic massage.

As an avid cyclist, hiker and yoga practitioner, Austin is a little slice of heaven. Other interests include anything involving the outdoors, exploring organic markets and cafes, and searching for the perfect chocolate chip cookie.
